Real Madrid took on Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu, looking to extend their lead at the top of the table. Despite being off to a slow start, by the 60th minute, Ancelotti’s men had proved why they are the best team in the La Liga at the moment. Braces from Benzema and Vinicius Jr. sealed a clear and comfortable 8-point lead at the top of the table. Benzema scored his 300th goal for the club, Vinicius kept up to his great form and the chemistry between the two remains slick and most beautiful as ever.

Player Ratings from the match:

Thibaut Cortouis (8.5/10): The Belgian Goalkeeper displayed a world class save in the 62nd minute from a terrific Daniel Wass strike. He even saved a penalty, however, it was scored on the rebound.

Lucas Vazquez (7.5/10): The Spaniard must be given credit for a number of interceptions in defence and a good defensive performance, keeping Valencia’s chances at low.

Eder Militiao (8/10): Militiao almost opened up the scoring at the Bernabau in the early few minutes when he attempted to convert a Toni Kroos ball. He also made a number of good passes down the flank and his defensive performance was strong.

David Alaba (7/10): Alaba had a solid defensive performace, putting an end to a few scoring attempts.

Ferland Mendy (7/10): Mendy had a good offensive performance, playing good passes as well. However, he did pick up a yellow card and give away a penalty.

Luka Modric (8/10): Despite having hit the crossbar in what would’ve been a great goal, the club veteran showed his 36 years of age are just a number. Luka Modric made a number of key passes and was well involved in the game. The Croatian has been imperious this season, and was in complete control of Real’s midfield.

Casemiro (7.5/10): Casemiro made a great attempt in the first half which led to a penalty and opened up the scoring. He had a good performance but, naturally, got booked.

Toni Kroos (8/10): Kroos put up a great performance and made some good passes and played a couple of his typical long balls. Along with Modric, the German kept control of the midfield for Los Blancos.

Asensio (8.5/10): The match saw a number of positives for Asensio. This was one of his greater performances in a white shirt. Although he didn’t get a goal, he had two close goal scoring chances, one of which was finished by Vinicius Jr. He played confidently and created space well. Definitely his best performance this season.

Vinicius Jr. (9/10): The Brazilian has really exploded onto the scene this season, adding a final product to the rest of his game, scoring a brace against Valencia. During his first goal, his build up with Benzema was amazing, after which he toyed with the Valencia defense and scored beautifully. The Brazilian has been clinical, scoring 14 out of 34 shots so far this season. (Our) MOTM

Karim Benzema (8.5/10): Benzema kept his form up and played clinically, achieving 300 goals for Real Madrid, which has only been achieved by 3 others before him, putting him only 7 away from Alfredo Di Stefano. His link up play with Vinicius has been beautiful, and he is definitely stepping up when it matters.

Substitutes:

Dani Ceballos (7/10): Coming off the bench for Modric, he kept good hold of the midfield and made some good passes.

Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde, Isco, Nacho- N/A
